Our Roots, Our Wine: The Story of Spirits of Norway Vineyard & Winery
Spirits of Norway Vineyard & Winery in Franksville, Wisconsin is where centuries-old Norwegian heritage meets modern cold-climate winemaking. We grow wine from the ground up, crafting award-winning, small-batch wines on historic soil.
Our Heritage
From Norwegian Settlement to Award-Winning Winery
The story of Spirits of Norway Vineyard & Winery is rooted in the Town of Norway’s origin. In 1839, forty Norwegian immigrants settled the land for its fertile soil and promise. This same soil now supports our estate-grown vines, from which we create artisan wines that have earned gold and double gold medals in prestigious competitions. Guided by a 'We Grow Wine' philosophy, we honor both our Norwegian roots and Wisconsin’s agricultural future. Our winemaking process, carefully managed from grape selection to bottling, reflects our devotion to craftsmanship and our responsibility as stewards of this historic land. Each vintage is a tribute to those who came before us and a promise to those who seek authentic Wisconsin wine today.
Our Process
Cold-Climate Expertise, Boutique Craftsmanship
At Spirits of Norway, we specialize in cold-climate hybrids developed by the University of Minnesota, including Marquette, Petite Pearl, and Brianna. These varietals thrive in Southeastern Wisconsin’s unique terroir, allowing us to produce wines with distinct regional character. Our boutique scale, capped at under 3,000 cases per year, means every batch receives personal attention from vineyard to bottle. The entire process is integrated on-site in Franksville, ensuring quality and provenance at every step. Our reservation-only Tour N Taste Experience provides an intimate look at our methods, while our On Cloud Wine Bar in Franklin offers a social setting for Wisconsin wine enthusiasts to enjoy our full wine list, food pairings, and live music. Whether you visit for a Sunday tour or join us at our tasting room, you’ll experience wine grown with intention and crafted with care.
